Blessing

For my creative arts class we were required to watch a film from a selected list, the only non-rated R film was "Baraka". In the beggining I was weary to watch it. I didn't think it would be interesting. But boy I was wrong.

Baraka is amazing!! The description on Youtube says
The word Baraka means "blessing" in several languages; watching this film, the viewer is blessed with a dazzling barrage of images that transcend language. Filmed in 24 countries and set to an ever-changing global soundtrack, the movie draws some surprising connections between various peoples and the spaces they inhabit, whether that space is a lonely mountaintop or a crowded cigarette factory. Some of these attempts at connection are more successful than others: for instance, an early sequence segues between the daily devotions of Tibetan monks, Orthodox Jews, and whirling dervishes, finding more similarity among these rituals than one might expect. And there are other amazing moments, as when sped-up footage of a busy Hong Kong intersection reveals a beautiful symmetry to urban life that could only be appreciated from the perspective of film. The lack of context is occasionally frustrating--not knowing where a section was filmed, or the meaning of the ritual taking place--and some of the transitions are puzzling

I really encourage you to take an hour and watch the film. I suggest getting on dvd and watching it on a television because the youtube video is not the best.

On a different note...I have always known that I have awesome friends but lately they have been great confidants. I've just been struggling with some things and they tell me what I need to hear. K-Fed is always prompting me to stick to the truth and make the gospel a priority. I can't tell you how many times he has told me something that I needed to hear. And Juanita can always make me smile and laugh. He has a unique way of understanding things and his approach to life is refreshing. They both make my life so much easier and this post entitled blessing could not go without a public thanks to them for being there for me lately.

I'm really glad you wrote this comment. Baraka really wasn't so bad was it? haha.. and thanks for saying that about me. If there is one thing I would love to have an influence for people it would be their love of the gospel and its importance in their life! Never forget how much the Savior has done for you!
