Capital Hill

This past Thursday, the student council at the Union and Roosevelt Junior High School, boarded a bus and headed to Salt Lake City to visit the capital building. Arriving there we were met by the wives of Senator VanTassel and Representative Powell. They pretty much served as our tour guides through out the day and gave us an insiders view of the capital. We went to the both the Senate and the House of Representatives and were recognized in each, respectively.

I love anything that has to deal with government and how it is run. However frustrating at times, it marvels me at the great and well oiled machine the United States government is. That is probably why I have taken that love and combined it with my other--teaching--and decided that I want to go into social studies in order to teach high school students and held them realized that it is amazing that we live in the Country we do and to be grateful for it.

As with some of the other pictures I have posted, these pictures are for my overachieving friends that are sterling scholars. Karsen, Ryan and Jake, are the general, drama, and art sterling scholars, respectivly. We took pictures cause these sort of things are exactly what they will need for their portofilios!1

Ryan, Karsen, Mr. Bertoch and Jake, outside the capital. Little did Mr. Bertoch know here, while during lunch at Chuck-a-rama it would be his birthday!

The boys with Senator Van Tassel

This one is my favorite! I don't know why....but it is.

AND JUST FOR FUN
He said he was a bird. I don't know if he'd like me posting this but, oh well. I think its funny!
