biosphere 2

Located in the deserts of Arizona is a 3.15 acre structure called Biosphere 2.  Scientists in the early 1990s decided to create this structure in order to try to replicate the Earth's atmosphere.  They created an ocean, rain forest and even a desert.  Things were going really well for a while, however they encountered a few problems.

A large tree started to show distress.  The top was becoming too heavy to hold and the limbs were sinking towards the ground.  Biosphere 2 had no way of introducing natural opponents.  There was no wind in the structure.

Soon, the tree snapped in half.  Scientists concluded that the lack of wind was the trees downfall.  Wind allows trees to strengthen their bark.

This natural adversary in the real world allows the tree to become stronger.

Like life, if we did not have forces against us we would not have the ablitly to become strong by "toughening our bark"

This time in my life is going to make me stronger and will help me hold myself up in the future :)
